Monday Motivation: 5 Tips To Help You Stay Encouraged When Life Gets Overwhelming!

Last week I had one of "those" weeks. Some days were hard to get out of bed, and staying encouraged was even harder. I couldn't do anything. I was paralyze with grief. It was a week where the suffering of love ones, friends and associates started to burden my faith. And in that time I had to find strength to seek The Lord like never before. As I was reflecting this past weekend, there were things I wish I could have done differently in order to keep my focus and not get burdened nor overwhelmed by the waves of life.

Below are 5 tips I came up with that can help you stay in encouraged when life gets overwhelming:

1. Guard Your Heart!
I will admit. I take in a lot. Society moves extremely fast. I go from mentoring and coaching others through their issues, to managing my social media forums, reading blogs, newspapers, magazines, and responding to email, etc. To much of everything is NOT good, especially when you do not give yourself time to process it all. Guard your heart! Our heart dictates a great deal of our emotions. Filter what you're taking in through television, music, conversations, social media, etc. Learn how to shut things off, and stop your mind from constantly moving.

2. BE Still!
It's absolutely fundamental that we make time to be quiet and acknowledge God in our lives. So for 15 minutes a day, everyday I want you to:

Turn off your mind!
Turn off your ideas!
Turn off your feelings!
Turn off your aspirations!
Stop thinking!
Stop talking!
Stop doing...Just Be Still!

3. Watch Your Thoughts!
Let me tell you a little secret. One single thought in the morning can change the course of your day. If you think about the wrong things long enough you will think yourself into a depression. Thats why the Bible tells us in Philippines 4:8 "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about the things that are excellent and worthy of praise."

What we put into our mind determines what comes out in our words and actions. Watch your thoughts. The enemy like's to attack our mind when we are in our weakest form.

4. Stay Active!
Staying active is essential to relieving stress and anxiety. Eating healthy and exercising gives you tons of energy as well. Throughout my life I felt my best and most confident when I had healthy eating and exercise regimes. If you do not have one, I would strongly suggest you get one. Take care of the temple God has given you.

5. Stay Prayerful!
Life is hard but through the reading of your word and staying connected to God in prayer He will give you the strength, revelation and wisdom needed for the journey ahead. Stay connected to your source! James 4:8 "Draw near to God and he will draw near to you."

Last week, I was reminded that God’s character is good and kind and that He has promised us that what is coming is better than what is here now. I was reminded that sorrow, pain, & sickness will ALL pass away. Although eternity seem far, heaven seem unreachable, and this earth and all of the evilness that dwells in it--look like its winning. Still. Always. Forever. The KING sits on the throne. The King doesn't play checkers or chess. One move from Him can turn any tragedy into triumph. Any defeat into victory. His ways is not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts.

Have a Blessed Week and Stay Encouraged!
